Jeremiah 32:27 - Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

~ IN JESUS NAME ~

(SHOULD WE PRAY IN JESUS` NAME?)

Now the easiest answer would be that Praying in Jesus' name means the same thing as praying according to the will of God.
However, I’ve noticed that most people think praying only involves asking God for something. The main theme of Power of Faith Ministries website is to promote a “personal relationship” with God. This usually involves actually having a conversation
(talking) with God, even when you don’t want something from him.

When Jesus` disciples said: Lord, teach us how to pray, Jesus said:

Matthew 6:9 - "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

In this verse Jesus tells his disciples to talk directly to God. In the verses from the book of John, Jesus is telling them to use his name.

John14:13 - "Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 15:16 - "You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

John 16:23 - "In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.
John 16:24 - "Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.

The disciples used the name of Jesus to perform miracles:

Acts 16:18 - She continued doing this for many days. But Paul was greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!" And it came out at that very moment.

Mark 16:17 - "These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;
Mark 16:18 - they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

It appears according to these scriptures that When one is asking something from God that requires either power or an action from him (Miracle, healing, casting out demons, speaking in tongues etc . . ), we are required to go directly through his son if we want him to move on our behalf. However, when we speak to God directly, it is more in the form of a personal relationship, and getting closer to him.

When I wrote the article/webpage “How to Pray”, my focus was mostly on encouraging people to have a personal relationship with God. However, when "I"

pray and ask for something from God (Protection over my family, healing, miracle etc ...), I pray in Jesus` name. However, when I simply talk to God, I call him Father, and speak directly to him.

It was Jesus that made our relationship with God so personal. Jesus encouraged us to call him father. Before then, in the Old Testament, God was only referred to as father in a metaphorical since.

In the Holy Trinity, it has been customary that God is the creator and makes the decisions. Jesus is known as the word.
(the one who speaks it) And the Holy Spirit is the one who performs the action, with power. So it is possible that when you ask for something, you are speaking with authority, because you have been given permission to use Jesus` name.

EXAMPLE:

* GOD THE CREATOR

Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

* JESUS THE SON AND THE WORD

John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 - He was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 - All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

* HOLY SPIRIT – THE ONE WITH THE POWER

Acts 1:8 - but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
(See also: Acts 10:38, Romans 15:13 and 1 Thessalonians 1:5)

* GOD GAVE AUTHORITY TO HIS SON JESUS CHRIST

Matthew 28:18 - And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

* JESUS CHRIST GAVE “YOU” AUTHORITY TO USE HIS NAME”

John 16:26 - In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf;
John 16:27 - for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.

The short and long answer is: Yes! We should pray in Jesus` name.
