FELLOW SERVANTS OF GOD
~ ARE ANGELS SUBJECT TO US? ~
~ ARE THERE FEMALE ANGELS? ~
~ SHOULD WE PRAY TO ANGELS? ~
~ ARE GUARDIAN ANGELS WATCHING OVER US? ~
One of the most common misconceptions about angels, is how people perceive their appearance. We see pictures of cute chubby little "baby angels"," beautiful female angels" and even male angels who look very gentle and feminine. Just Google the words "Angel Pictures" and the results you will get back look like a Victoria's Secret Catalog, sexy and scantily dressed beautiful females with wings, and little else. Does this tell
you something about modern society and what we imagine angels to be, and what they look like?
Most of the encounters people have had with angels in the bible left them terrified, trembling, and they experienced great fear at the mere sight of them. I don't know if the angels who visited Lot in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah appeared in their true form or not, but most accounts would imply that angels are very powerful, frightening and awesome looking beings.
If my car breaks down in a bad part of town at 3:00am, and I suddenly find myself surrounded by gang members, and I pray for protection, I don't want the cute chubby little baby angel, or the scantily dressed female angel, I want the angel who looks like Rambo or Hulk Hogan! I want the angel that is ranked just below the "Angel of Death".
~THE TRUTH ABOUT ANGELS ~
We have all been led to believe that we each have a guardian angel assigned to us to protect and guide us, therefore, we tend to assume that they are like our pet dog, mans best friend who adores us no matter how we mistreat them, or how we conduct ourselves. We take for granted that they just "Love" us to pieces, and would give their very life for us. I would think it would depend on the individual person, as to whether they have an angel assigned to them or not.
Assuming that you do have a guardian angel assigned to you, it would probably depend on your personality whether he truly likes you or not. Chances are, if the people you come into contact with every day are not crazy about you, I doubt an angel would be either!
DO ANGELS LOVE YOU?
We've been taught, or at least left with the impression that angels are here to do as we will, or to be commanded by us. This is simply "not" true. To put this in the most simple and clearest way possible, Angels are servants of God PERIOD! They are God's ministers and they are God's warriors. Some people fixate too much on angels, when they should be fixating on God. The scriptures are clear that we are "not" to pray to angels. It is God that will set them into motion on your behalf, not the angel himself.
At God's command alone, angels will either bless you, or they will kill every first born male child in your entire nation. Their not concerned with compassion, love or remorse, they are concerned with pleasing the Lord God almighty. If you truly want the protection of an angel or angels, then seek God and to be pleasing to him. Have an intimate, personal relationship with God, and he could surround you with a legion of angels. Whether an angel likes you personally or not, if God gives the word, trust me, you "Will" be protected and blessed!
ANGELS ARE SERVANTS OF GOD, NOT SERVANTS OF "YOU"
Angels are truly awesome. According to biblical record, angels have appeared from human like to scary as hell! I believe that God may have blessed us a little more than the angels, but angels should be respected as fellow servants of God. Just as we are to respect and love one another. If you want an angel to protect you, don't pray to the angel, pray to God, because angels only move on your behalf by God's command.
Revelation 22:8 - I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things.
Revelation 22:9 - But he *said to me, "Do not do that. I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets and of those who heed the words of this book. Worship God."
The two most important words above are "Worship God". When we pray, we do not pray to angels, Mary, Saint What's his name, or even to Jesus himself (according to Jesus) When asked by his disciples to teach them how to pray, Jesus said:
Luke 11:2 - And He said to them, "When you pray, say: 'Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.
Whether you are surrounded by a legion of angels, or just one, it won't amount to a hill of beans if you do not have a personal relationship with God! (If you think that I preach personal relationship too much, then your not getting it!)
